Topp'd is a local choice among the newish (to Kansas City) build-a-pizza trend. It's exactly like you think it would be. You can come in and build your own pizza or if you like, pick a pie from the home made gourmet options such as the "Spicy Thai" pizza, the "Buffalo Chicken" pizza, the "Hawaiian" pizza and some other rotating and seasonal options. The menu offers salad and sandwich options as well as a nice craft beer menu, if you're into that. The dining room is nice and clean however I like how easy it is to get your pizza to go and truthfully, most times will take it home. If you want to dine in, you'll like it, but if you like to get orders to go then you'll like Topp'd. One small drawback is during some busier times a line will form and Topp'd is still working on perfecting the arts of taking orders and moving the line with regards to baking a good pizza. Sometimes when the line forms you will wait a little longer than you may like. I don't want to scare you off, but if you are on a schedule then you might want to come back at a different time. I also want to note that if you drive by on Rainbow, but you aren't sure where to park that there's an abundance of spaces behind the buildings.

Topp'd allows you to go over the top with your pizza creativity. I went a little gaga with the build-your-own option, and ended up selecting around 10 ingredients. No shame in that game! My boyfriend had his stomach heart set on the Thai Chicken pizza, which was fantastic, and mine was perfectly customized to my crazy taste. The fact that Topp'd has reasonable prices just makes the whole experience that much better. I will definitely be back.

Attached to the Holiday inn across from the Medical Center is Topped a super excellent concept pizza place. Personal pizzas made like a Subway or Chipotle. Here's the twist... All fresh house made ingredients no freezers! Several dough choices and personal thin crust pizza creations. Several on the menu and a build it yourself (they do the work) option possible for this food crazed field engineer! Let's not forget the salads again all house made ingredients and choices of greens. The decor is outstanding it's sharp and super clean but let's you know this is not an industrial chain! The atmosphere is... Well it was perfect for me, good tunes at just the right level. The surroundings polished enough for an older fellow like me but still a place where younger guests will be happy. I would suggest he do hotel delivery since it's right upstairs. I asked the hotel clerk specifically about pizza and the handed me a menu from another place not even telling me there was one 50 feet away! All in this place is fabulous and you have to try it! FoodDude!

Great pizza for a great deal! I live right next to this pizza place so I had to try. All the toppings you want on your original pizza and it's delicious. They also have craft beer, but it's kind of pricy. Anyways... Will be back :)

Good price for what you get. Skip the side salad. Nice to have non-dairy cheese as an option!

Just like my previous visits the pizzas were great and I got my bacon fix. Now I'm hooked and this has become a weekly affair.

I am not a huge pizza fan, but Topp'd breaks the standard pizza mold and makes me a Topp'd pizza fan. Fresh made and a huge variety of ingredients are available. There is also a great beer selection. Not what you would expect at a place that provides a 9inch pie in about five minutes that with a drink will be around $10. Seriously cheap and yummy! I have tried a variety of the pizzas on the board, but my fav has to be the thai pizza. Different and great flavors. They also currently have a mexican style pizza that is fantastic. They rotate specials, so stop by soon to try this one! The quality of ingredients really stand out. The salads are a nice option also and HUGE. For those with dietary restrictions, Topp'd can probably accommodate about anything. If not talk to Chad and he may be able to find a solution. On my last visit, I was with a friend who wanted a gluten free beer. Although they did not have one available, Chad took the time to talk about options so he can explore getting some in. Fantastic service! I love this place. Great local business and owner. Stop and check them out!

I am not a fan of their Gluten Free crust. Way too thick, if they would make it thinner it might be edible.

Topp'd has astonishingly good pizza. Tender crust, delicious sauces, fresh toppings. Five stars all the way. Service, sadly, was a bit lacking during my visit. The owner dropped my pizza on my table & turned his back on me while I was asking him a question. Plus, I asked them politely to change the channel to the Royals game, which they said they would, but never did. So we watched a Cubs game, for some reason, while I followed the progress of the hometown boys on my smartphone. Go figure. The pizza is so good, I'm likely to go back.... let's hope it was just an off night on the service front.

This is a great concept. Incredibly diverse toppings with lots of options for dietary issues. I went on a Sunday evening and it was empty. We ordered our pizzas and by the time we filled our drinks, checked out the cool metal wall mounted sculptures and sat down the pizza was being brought to the table. The Thai pizza had a peanut sauce with thai marianted chicken, red onions, shredded carrots, mozzarella, jalapeños, basil leaves and roasted peanuts. They have 4 crusts to choose from and press the dough in front of you. Executed wonderfully with a sleek modern clean atmosphere, even craft beers available. Well done and delicious. Fast casual at its best.

Love love loved it! I got the Kansas City BBQ pizza and it was amazing! Delicious pulled pork, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and this fantastic, slightly spicy, BBQ sauce.

I was super excited when I saw the sign for Topp'd coming soon way back in December. I love pizza and having the option to create my own pizza is even better. After my first visit, I felt a little underwhelmed in the taste department but was happy with the available choices. Topp'd is a fast casual type of restaurant where your 9" pizza or salad is made right in front while you are creating your order. Topp'd has an ample amount of choices of pizza crusts, sauces, cheeses, and toppings. Everything is also at a single price of $6.99 (same goes for salads). You can easily come every day and have a different type of pizza for an entire year. One aspect that I very much appreciated is what Topp'd calls the "extra zing." You have the choice to top your pizza (or salad maybe?) with one of their dressings/sauces. It is similar to Pizza Hut's sauce drizzle. Another great thing about Topp'd is that the the grill that is used to cook the meat is also visible so you know you are getting freshly made food. You can also see an area where the veggies are being cut. Unfortunately with all the great options that Topp'd has, I just felt that the taste of my pizza was just average. To me, the red tomato sauce was lacking and could have had more taste. For me, the bread definitely overpowered the taste of my topp'd out pizza. Also, my palate was not keen on their Caesar dressing as it had a more vinaigrette taste to it rather than a rich and creamy sauce that I look for in Caesar dressing. I also would had loved it if they had some sort of pizza dessert option. I wanted to love Topp'd and it is a great to have it in the area. I also love that the restaurant is locally owned. It just a bit average when I compare it to other similar fast casual pizza restaurants in the KC metro area.

I came here on a Friday evening at around 6 and barely beat the rush. The gentleman who made our pizza was very friendly, as well as the rest of the staff. Ingredients were so fresh and we were quite impressed. We ordered what seems to be the two most popular pizzas off their menu, the Thai pie and Greek pie. Got our pizza after about a 10 minute wait for it to bake. Very yummy and we were extremely satisfied. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients with every single bite. The crust was the perfect thickness to provide the perfect crunch. Will definitely be back, even without a Groupon, as prices are very fair! The most expensive pizza on the menu was $7.99 for a 9 inch. We had leftovers, and although I did not eat it, my fiancé says it was still good after being reheated in the oven, maybe even better!

We had a Groupon so decided to give this place a try. Basically it's a lot like Pie Five but not nearly as good and a bit more expensive. I had the bbq pork pizza and I had the exact same thing at Pie Five last week so I can tell you without a doubt - Pie Five was wayyyyy better. The side salad is sad compared to Pie Five - just lettuce and couple of tomatoes and shredded carrots. The buttermilk dressing they gave me was very thin and warm and very bland so I asked for balsamic vinaigrette which was bland and oily. They serve diet pepsi instead of diet coke so that made me happy but other than that I'd go to Pie Five any day over this place.

Topp'd is a welcomed addition to the Rainbow Blvd/KU Med area! Topp'd centers around 9" pizzas priced two ways - either $5.99 for a single topping, or $6.99 for as much as you want on there. Wait, $7 for . . . everything? I got talked out of clicking every single option available in the name of being a good neighbor. As vegetarians, we're usually stuck with cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, the usual pizza stuff right? Nah, not at Topp'd. Spinach, fresh basil, Daiya vegan cheese, roasted sun dried tomatoes, a choice of sauces ranging from a nice herb marinara, creamy alfredo, olive oil blend, or original, and an option for more flavoring over the top. We put an online order in at 9am on Sunday morning and picked up our 3 pizzas as prescribed at 11:30. The guy making the pizzas even double-checked that it was ok to do the creamy alfredo sauce on a pizza otherwise loaded with vegan cheese and veggies. I now the price point here would probably make delivery relatively unviable for the time being, but Topp'd will be our go-to choice now over the delivery-minded chains that were our previous option. Topp'd, we hope you take us up on our suggestion of a taco pizza - especially if local standout Spanish Gardens is used for the sauce!

Groupon got me in but before I had ordered or eaten I knew I'd be back. The staff was lovely, all the sections were fresh and well prepared, and the prices- value isn't even the word!! The quality of food, a locally owned concept, speed, and great attitudes.... There's nothing but good things going on here folks !!!

This pizza restaurant operates in an unusual manner. The counter is set up as an assembly line, somewhat like a Subway sandwich shop of Chipotle. Their system is very efficient. Once you get to the counter, they can make a pizza to your preferences in five minutes. But that can be after a half hour wait in a long line to get to the counter. I was there at noon and had not anticipated the long line. But the second time I was there, the line was much shorter. I guess the novelty has warn off. Once they have produced your pizza, they'll either box it for you to go or bring it to your table, if you choose to dine there. They also have salads, soft drinks, wine, and beer. All of their ingredients are fresh. The crust starts out thin, but tends to pop up in the oven in an unusual manner. I'd rate their pizza as average. If you like spice, ask them to add the inferno blend, consisting of Cajun spices.

I've had the experience of trying Topp'd twice. Both times I was pleasantly surprised by the variation in flavors. The Thai Penut pizza is AMAZING & my favorite thus far.. I would go here just to have that pizza over & over again. Yummy!!! I'll be back again of course.

I've had cheap, easy, bad pizza in my neighborhood. I've had expensive, complicated, damn good pizza in my neighborhood. Now, at last, I have cheap, easy, pretty darn good pizza in my neighborhood. I ordered 2 pizzas online and it said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Well, I was probably there in 15 and it was waiting for me. The guy working was super friendly. We brought it home and it was still good and hot...and tasty! My son and I each ate half a pizza, so we still have the equivalent of a whole pizza leftover. Not bad for $14!

My wife and I stopped into our neighborhood's newest restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Topp'd is a pizza version of Chipotle. Though one of their main ideas is "yours," as in have it your way, they also have specialties. I got the Thai Peanut, my wife got The Greek without chicken because she's a vegetarian. It was nice that their standard price ($6.99) covered their specialties. So many pizza places advertise a cheap price for a pizza that you don't want. As the guy was making my pizza, he said, "This is the best I've ever had," and then left a slice free of chick so my wife could try it. That's caring customer service. Overall, the pizzas were excellent. The peanut sauce on my Thai was great and the seasoned feta on my wife's was a nice touch. We will return again to try the other specialties and make our own.

My husband is allergic to dairy and he loves pizza. I am so happy to find a convenient, cheap pizza place to take him to. Everyone gets their own little tasty pizza (9 inch I think), and it's only $7 each with lots of toppings, or $6 for a one topping pizza. No extra charge for Daiya cheese! That right there makes them a winner in our book! They have regular flavors, as well as thai, buffalo chicken, and BBQ. They also have different crusts to choose from, including wheat, herbed, and gluten free. GF is $2 extra though.

I work at the University of Kansas Hospital.. I saw the signs months ago that the place was opening and couldn't wait to try it. I saw that is was open on Saturday and decided to try it.. WOW! Great pizza and customer service.. Good price! Fresh ingredients.. Nothing frozen or packaged. Almost everything local.. cheese from Wisconsin,, but that makes sense, they do have the best cheese. The tomatoe sauce is bursting with flavor Very fast service so great for lunch. If you want a great personal pizza at a good price, this is the place.

Someone else mentioned that this is like Chipotle for pizza, and I agree with that. I had the original "Topp'd" pizza and it was delicious! All toppings were fresh. Sauce had a nice zing to it and the thin crust was just the right balance between crunchy and chewy. Even the side salad was fresh and they make their own dressings! Employees were energetic and courteous too. Highly recommend this place.

Fresh, made to order, sized right for dining alone, and endless combinations. I'll definitely be back. My only recommendation is to improve speed along the production line for those busy lunch rushes...this will come with practice and experience. Glad to have this locally owned business in the area. Keep up the good work!

Stopped by this gem today for lunch. Grabbed the Thai Peanut pizza. They were busy, however very efficient My wait was reasonable. The staff even had to deal with a couple customers who were out of line, but they managed it with professionalism and class. Pizza was really good. Cooked well, given to me hot. I didn't think I was that hungry but it was so good I ate it all.

I work across the street so I have been watching as this place has been built and waiting for it to open. When it did open I was on the fence going in. I have had a lot of crappy pizza and decent pizza is hard to come by. I was pleasantly surprised when I was in here. It was incredibly reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. I was impressed by all the choices you have. You have a choice of 4 different crusts and several different sauces and then a whole tone of toppings. I was very impressed by the fresh ingredients. The huge Deli style pepperoni, the several different kinds of sausage and the sauteed onions and fresh roasted garlic. It was pretty amazing and I for see it being one of my lunch staples!

Ate there Saturday with my girlfriend. She had a custom pizza and I had a signature. Both came out great, I was worried a 5 minute pizza crust wouldn't be crispy or perhaps dried out. It was great, would suggest you swing by and grab one, also a great value and another great local business.

Delicious Thai Peanut pizza that they helpfully made vegetarian for me with extra veggies. Great pizza, very friendly staff, fast service. Highly recommend.

The KC BBQ chicken pizza is so delicious. And the cookies. Whew! Just like Grandma used to make them. I have definitely found my new go-to pizza place. Having it made right in front of you is a fun experience and also allows you to make sure you get exactly the toppings you wanted. It's like....the Chipotle of pizza places. Loved it!

I can't believe no one is talking about the cross contamination of the food here. I went to the restaurant at the asking of my co-workers and got the Thai Peanut pizza. As I watched the girl covering the dough with the peanut sauce I realized she had peanut sauce on her glove but didn't change her glove for the next customer. Peanut allergies can be deadly and I would think that a restaurant would be cognitive of that! Also they just dig there hands in whatever. Like the customer in front of me ask for meatballs on his salad and the employee dug her hand into the little basket and manually broke up some meatballs then with the same hand just dug right in with with his next request of tomatoes and the the list goes on, I would like the restaurant if they would use tongs or something other than their hands. It really doesn't matter that they have gloves on cuz they just dig into any dish the customer wants and cross contaminate everything. Get some tongs people !!!!! My. Coworkers will not go here after my experience.

Unless you want to wait 30 minutes for a pizza promised to be made in 5 minutes, don't come to Topp'd. The man behind the counter is stoned and moves as slow as molasses- meticulously counting each sausage. Order from Domino's, you'll get your meal quicker.

Have visited this restaurant several times now and it continues to impress with its service and great food. Ordered 10 pizzas by fax for a working lunch at my office and all were ready to go by the requested time and piping hot. Some ordered the build-your-own pizzas and some the house specials. My co-workers were very impressed with the fresh taste of their pizzas and the convenient size that was perfect for lunch. Great pizza at a reasonable price! You can't go wrong!

Just had the Thai peanut pizza and couldn't stop eating! Was delicious combination of flavors with a kick of jalepeno. Salads looked really good. Liked the idea of online ordering and then pick up. Liked the idea of serving beer, but will have to save that for another time-not lunch hour from work. Like that you can order anything on your pizza for the same cost. Will be back to try the salads next!

Gluten-free friendly! Found Topp'd here on Yelp and glad I did. Very impressed with the dedication to doing gluten-free the proper way without cross contamination. My Greek GF pizza was terrific and my friend really liked his Thai pizza. It's fun to watch the topping being added so you can omit certain ingredients and add others. More toppings on our pizzas than I have ever had on any other pizza. Quick baking time, delivered to your table, and exceptionally reasonable prices. For a change, I wasn't at all resentful of the extra fee for gluten-free crust because it was fresh, made in-house, tender, and tasty, and because I could actually see that I was getting the product I requested and it was safely handled. Besides, the additional fee was only $2 and the crust was far superior than the tough frozen crusts and GF products I've had to pay $3-4 for but didn't feel I had the assurance that I was getting what I needed. In other words, I didn't feel exploited! Only one small problem with reading the menu boards because there isn't enough contrast between the color of the boards and the color of the print. Too challenging for our old eyes to read. But otherwise, we'll be back. Thank you, Chad, and best wishes for your future here in my neighborhood. p.s. I would love a pesto option for my sauce. ;)

Cheap, great quality and Vegan Friendly! The owner knows his stuff. Thank you so much for realizing there are people with dietary restrictions. A lot of restaurants could learn something from this place. They have vegan cheese and vegan crust.

Delicious, real ingredients, cheap, & fast. This is the perfect place for that night when you've worked extra late and cooking dinner sounds like misery. I love their Greek and Thai pizzas. Honestly, I'm not sure how they put that good of ingredients on the pizzas for these prices. I always have leftovers for lunch tomorrow and spend under $7.50 for the pizza. O_o And the ingredients are so fresh/tasty. I really can't recommend them enough. Pro tip: order your pizza online and then drive over. It'll be done by time you get there! They're online ordering system rocks.

Cool little place. It was connected to our hotel and had been recommended to us. Personal size pizzas, topped with whatever you'd like! My husband had the Thai Peanut and thought he was in heaven! I had the monster meat, not throughly impressed with the red sauce, but overall would go again, just to try something different.

Great options, quality ingredients, solid beer selection all at a reasonable price! These aren't frozen toppings shipped in. They grill and prepare the ingredients onsite with quality selections. Chipotle version of a pizza shop. A solid pizza served fast at an overall great value. I will return.
